About the 462 Visa
The Work and Holiday Visa offers you the incredible opportunity to travel, explore and work in Australia for up to 12 months. This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment. The Work and Holiday visa is one of the best Australian visas for citizens of Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Türkiye, USA, Uruguay and Vietnam, who are aged between 18 to 30 and meet other requirements.
What are the eligibility requirements for the 462 Visa?

For applicants:
- You must be between 18 and 30 years old (inclusive) at the time of application.
- You must have not previously entered Australia on a 462 Visa or a 417 Visa.
- You must apply as an individual. You cannot include family members in your application.
- You must have the relevant education requirement for your country.
- You must have at least Functional English.
- You cannot be accompanied by dependent children.
- You must meet health and character requirements. Your immigration history and previous visa cancellations or refusals may impact your eligibility.
- You have approval in the form of a letter of support (or alternative) if you are from Ecuador, Greece, Indonesia, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pero, Poland, San Marino, Slovenia, Thailand, Türkiye.
- You have enough money to support yourself for the duration of the stay and to leave Australia at the end of your stay.
- Note: China, India and Vietnam passport holders must participate in a visa pre-application process (ballot) and be randomly selected to apply for a first Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) Visa.

Frequently Asked Questions
In addition to the above requirements, you must:
- Have complied with all the conditions on your first Work and Holiday visa.
- If in Australia, hold a substantive visa or your last substantive visa expired less than 28 days ago.
- Have completed 3 months of specified subclass 462 work (second 462 Visa), or 6 months of specified subclass 462 work to apply for a third Work and Holiday Visa.
- Not be accompanied by dependent children.
- Apply as an individual; family members cannot be included in your application.
- Meet the age requirements and hold a passport from an eligible country (see above).
- Department of Home Affairs visa application fee – $650
- Other fees (such as health examinations, police checks, and document translations) may apply. A credit card surcharge may also apply if paying by credit card.
