Student Visa (Subclass 500)

The student visa is for students who want to come to Australia to study at a registered education institution. You can study a CRICOS registered full-time course in Australia.

What are the requirements for the 500 visa?

  • You must be enrolled in a CRICOS registered course or in a primary or high school program.
  • You need to be issued an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) certificate by the education provider.
  • You must meet the Genuine Temporary Entrant requirement. This would mean proving that you are a genuine student and your intended course is relevant to your background, you will comply with your visa conditions and return back home after your studies.
  • You must show that you have sufficient funds for airfares, course fees and living costs.
  • You will be able to meet the English language proficiency requirements.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
  • Have acceptable Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
