The 186 visa offers three distinct streams to meet varying skill needs:

Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream
- For holders (or recent holders) of a Subclass 482 or 457 visa who have worked for the same employer for at least two years.
- Suitable if you are seeking to transition from a temporary sponsored visa to permanent residency.

Direct Entry (DE)
Stream
- Requires an eligible skilled occupation and at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- A positive skills assessment in the nominated occupation is generally required.

Labour Agreement
Stream
- For workers nominated by an employer operating under a Labour Agreement.
- Applicants must meet any additional age, skills, and English requirements stipulated in the Labour Agreement.
