Client Success Stories

In our client success stories segment, we have Kanu sharing her story

It was an absolute pleasure to me when our client the ambitious, vivacious, and bubbly Kanu who recently became an Australian permanent resident. We are immensely grateful that Kanu came to meet us, took the time to share her story on how she became an Australian permanent resident, and for her feedback on our services. Clients like Kanu are the reason for our customer success. Here are some snippets of our conversation with Kanu.

When and why did you come to Australia?

Australia’s world-class education system, multicultural environment, amazing lifestyle, and career opportunities enticed me to come here. I came to Australia in 2018 on a student visa to do a Master of Data Science at the University of Melbourne. As an international student, I faced many challenges such as culture shock, homesickness, and finding part-time work while juggling my studies. However, these challenges have also made me resilient and helped me go after opportunities more readily.

When and why did you make the decision to live in Australia permanently?

Once I completed my Master’s degree, I found employment in the field of information technology/data science as an Analyst Programmer. I had also obtained the Skilled Graduate Visa, which is an excellent visa option for international graduates to gain experience and improve their skills. However, my eventual goal was to apply for permanent residency. I was aware that obtaining a permanent visa via general skilled migration could be quite difficult. Hence, I approached my employer to find out if they would be willing to sponsor me for an Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186). I decided to seek professional advice from a Registered Migration Agent to help me with the process.

What were you looking for in a Migration Agent?

I called up some migration law firms and migration agencies, but I did not find anyone suitable. I then asked for referrals on a Facebook group and I received a lot of recommendations. It was quite overwhelming to filter through the messages and pick the right agent. One message that stood out, in particular, was a glowing referral for Preeti D’silva from Better Life Migration. It was from one of her previous clients who had been through the process with her and she came highly recommended. After contacting Preeti D’silva, my employer and myself decided to engage Better Life Migration to assist us with the 186 visa process.

What was your experience of applying for permanent residence?

Preeti helped my employer narrow down the most suitable occupation to nominate me under. She then applied for a skills assessment through ACS, which was approved in a few weeks. Better Life Migration liaised with my employer for all the documents required for the nomination application. The nomination application was lodged and approved in a few weeks. The visa application was lodged once the nomination was approved. Due to COVID lockdowns, I could not get a date to complete my health examinations and had to wait a while. Once I completed my health examinations I notified Better Life Migration and they, in turn, notified DHA. My visa was then approved the same day.

Throughout the process, I found Preeti to be a very professional, diligent, and inspiring woman. She consistently supported, advised, and helped me with the visa application. She worked tirelessly day and night to ensure everything was done in a timely fashion for my application. I can honestly say that her work ethic and professionalism make her one of the best Migration Agents in Australia. I would have no hesitation in recommending her services to others.

How has getting PR affected your life in Australia?

I finally have peace of mind and I am not worried about any visa issues. I can travel to India to meet my family after three years without being concerned about not being able to return to Australia due to potential border closures.

What are your future plans in Australia?

I want to continue working in the field of information technology and advance my career. Also on the cards, is marriage. My partner is currently a temporary resident. Being a permanent resident, I will now be able to sponsor him for his visa. We plan to set up our home together. I am finally able to make concrete plans for my future knowing that I am a permanent resident. I want to thank Better Life Migration for supporting me through my PR journey.
