The Business Owner Visa (Subclass 890) is a permanent visa for people who own and manage a business in Australia. To apply as a primary applicant, you must have a qualifying visa granted on a particular basis.
What are the requirements for the 890 Visa?

You may be eligible for this visa if you hold one of the following provisional visas granted on the basis that you or your current or former spouse or de facto partner satisfied the primary criteria:
- Business Owner (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 160).
- Senior Executive (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 161).
- Investor (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 162).
- State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 163).
- State/Territory Sponsored Senior Executive (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 164).
- State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 165).
Further, you must also meet the below criteria to be eligible for the 890 Business Owner Visa:
- Meet the residence requirement. This means that you must have been in Australia as an eligible visa holder for at least a total of 1 year in the 2 years immediately before the application is made.
- Be able to demonstrate that your business meets all the necessary requirements in relation to ownership, acquisition, turnover and management.
- Meet the assets and employees requirement. This is satisfied if you and your partner can show net business assets are lawfully acquired and constitute at least $100,000 in the main business, the main business(/es) annual turnover is $300,000, you have at least the equivalent of 2 eligible full-time employees in your main business, you have at least $250,000 in assets and you have not engaged in unacceptable business practices in Australia.
